Lemon Bee Balm

Lemon mint is also referred to as lemon bee balm; however, as the name suggests, it is a member of the mint family. When crushed, the scent is reminiscent of - yes, you guessed it - lemons. Lavender-to-white blossoms attract butterflies and moths. Lemon mint blooms from spring into summer and grows in prairies, roadsides and other sunny habitats from wildflower seed. Lemon Beebalm is a native of the Midwest and prefers soils with a high percentage of clay, but is adaptable to varying soil types as long as they are drier soils and not saturated. Full sun to partial shade.

Lemon Bee Balm

This plant is the most prolific flower we've grown on our farm, period. Lemon Bee Balm (Monarda citriodora) has a more rapid growth rate than its Bergamot Lavender relative; a few spring plants of this mint-family rhizome that a small stand of plants will fill out a wide swath of garden area by autumn. Plants form dense pink / light purple blossoms five to six inches tall, and like the name suggest, bees absolutely love this stuff. Has similar plant uses to Bergamot Lavender; plant foliage has an oregano scent when crushed. 100 days to bloom from seed. Perennial. Packet: 0.05 gram, ~85 seeds
